Job Title: Head of Sector Sales – SSD & Laboratory Markets Reporting to: General Manager Location: Remote-based (with UK-wide travel and monthly attendance at Norwich HQ) Department: Sales Employment Type: Full Time

About Teknomek

At Teknomek, we design and manufacture high-quality, hygienic stainless steel and specialist furniture for regulated industries. Our products support compliance in sectors where hygiene, durability, and efficiency are critical — including food manufacturing, pharmaceutical production, laboratories, cleanrooms, and healthcare environments.

With our manufacturing site based in Norwich, Norfolk, we are proud to produce the majority of our core stainless steel range in-house. To complement this, we have partnered with other leading UK-based manufacturing specialists to offer a comprehensive product portfolio across the sterile services and laboratory sectors. These partnerships ensure our customers benefit from the highest standards of quality, reliability, and sector-specific performance — all from a single trusted supplier.

We are entering an exciting new phase of growth, with a strategic focus on expanding our presence in Sterile Services Departments (SSD) and laboratory environments. This role will be pivotal in establishing and growing our footprint in these sectors.

Role Overview

We are seeking a driven and experienced Head of Sector Sales to lead Teknomek’s commercial activity within NHS and private hospital SSD units, as well as laboratory environments. This is a newly created, senior role with full responsibility for driving sales, deepening customer relationships, and shaping our go-to-market approach in these sectors.

The role is remote-based, with national coverage expected. The successful candidate will plan and execute customer engagement across the UK, working closely with our Norwich-based Sales Support Team. Additionally, the role includes monthly attendance at Teknomek HQ to report on progress against the sector sales plan and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

You will focus on selling Teknomek’s core product ranges:

  • For SSD units: hygienically designed transport carts, Easy Rider shelving, workstations, and general-purpose trolleys – supporting infection control and operational efficiency in sterile environments.
  • For laboratories: a portfolio of lab refrigeration and freezers, autoclaves, ovens, incubators, and fume cabinets – offering precision and compliance for scientific and life science applications.

All Teknomek products are designed around hygiene-first principles and built for performance in demanding, regulated environments.

This is a high-impact, commercially focused role suited to a confident self-starter with strong sector knowledge and a track record in solution selling. Long-term, if the business case is proven, there is potential to build a dedicated sales team under this position.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Sector Growth

  • Lead the execution of Teknomek’s SSD and laboratory sales strategy across the UK, delivering growth in both NHS and private sector accounts.
  • Actively identify and capitalise on new business opportunities across Sterile Services and laboratory environments.
  • Build and manage a dynamic pipeline using CRM and lead-generation tools, ensuring robust conversion rates and accurate forecasting.
  • Deliver compelling product presentations and tailored proposals that address technical customer needs and sector challenges.
  • Monitor progress against the sector sales plan and report results at monthly on-site meetings at Teknomek HQ
  • If growth targets are achieved, support the business case for building a dedicated team under your leadership.

Note: Team expansion will be dependent on sustained success and profitability and is not guaranteed.

Customer Engagement & Relationship Management

  • Establish and nurture strategic relationships with key stakeholders including SSD managers, clinical teams, laboratory managers, procurement leads, and estates/facilities departments.
  • Act as a trusted advisor by understanding sector-specific challenges and offering solutions aligned to hygiene, compliance, and operational efficiency.
  • Conduct regular customer visits to reinforce relationships, gather insights, and uncover upselling/cross-selling opportunities.

Market Intelligence & Internal Collaboration

  • Stay informed of trends, procurement changes, and regulatory developments in SSD and laboratory markets.
  • Share customer feedback and market insight with Product, Marketing, and Operations to drive innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders – including the Sales Support, Marketing, Customer Service, and Product teams – to ensure a seamless customer journey from first contact to order fulfilment.

Key Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years’ successful field sales experience in NHS, healthcare, laboratory, pharmaceutical, or other regulated technical sectors.
  • Proven track record of winning new business and exceeding targets in consultative, solution-led selling environments.
  • Strong understanding of NHS procurement processes, hospital frameworks, and sterile service operations.
  • Technical aptitude to confidently present complex products and demonstrate their benefits in context.
  • Experience managing sales pipelines, CRM systems, and reporting tools (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics, Salesforce).
  • Ability to operate independently in a remote working environment and travel extensively across the UK.
  • Willingness and availability to attend monthly in-person meetings at Teknomek’s Norwich HQ.

Desirable Skills

  • Prior experience selling hygienic equipment, lab instrumentation, or healthcare furniture solutions.
  • Familiarity with ISO standards and compliance frameworks in hospital and laboratory environments.
  • Knowledge of procurement structures in private healthcare and UK life sciences.
  • Experience engaging with cross-functional teams to shape customer-centric solutions.

What We Offer

  • A senior-level opportunity to shape Teknomek’s growth in two high-potential sectors.
  • Competitive salary and commission package, scalable with performance.
  • Tools of the trade: company vehicle or car allowance, laptop, phone, CRM access.
  • Career development pathway aligned with the success of the sector sales plan.
  • Supportive, collaborative team and regular engagement with senior leadership.
  • Company pension, 25 days annual leave + bank holidays.
