When it comes to hygiene-critical environments, every detail matters - especially the furniture that plays a key role in daily operations. In the food and pharmaceutical industries, tables are not just work surfaces; they are potential contamination risks if not designed to the highest hygienic standards.

At Teknomek, we understand that compliance with the latest hygiene regulations is non-negotiable. That’s why our stainless steel tables are meticulously engineered to eliminate dirt traps, withstand rigorous cleaning protocols and enhance workflow efficiency.  In this blog, we’ll explore how Teknomek’s innovative approach to material selection, design and compliance sets the standard for hygienic tables, helping businesses maintain uncompromising levels of cleanliness and safety.

Material Selection

Teknomek uses only the highest quality of materials to create hygienic solutions that can stand the test of time. Using a minimum of 304L-grade stainless steel, our furniture can safely withstand regular cleaning using strong cleaning agents with the stainless steel providing high chemical and corrosion resistance. This non-porous material combined with clean welds reduces the harbourage of bacteria and moisture for a solution that suits a wide variety of environments across the food, pharmaceutical, cleanroom and life science sectors.

Hygienic design

Our tables are designed to incorporate various hygienic features to aid regulatory compliance and provide an easier cleaning process. These include:

  • No-join upstands – Our table with undershelf and heavy duty tables are available with a hygienic, no-join upstand for tables placed against walls. These prevent liquids from falling behind the furniture where it may be harder to access during clean downs
  • Multibar undershelf – The tables with multibar undershelf prevent the accumulation of dirt and debris while aiding both ventilation and drainage.
  • Perforated table tops – We offer a table with a perforated top to aid air circulation and provide better drainage. These are also ideal for cleanroom environments monitoring particle count.
  • Castors – Many of our tables are available with stainless steel castors for added mobility during the cleaning process, removing the issue of accessibility when cleaning the surrounding area. This upgrade from BZP (zinc plated) to stainless steel ensures that they are as chemical and corrosion resistant as the rest of the table.
  • Electropolishing – Teknomek offers an electropolishing service on request for ultra-sterile environments. This advanced finishing process smooths and removes microscopic imperfections from the surface of the stainless steel for a <0.3 RA finish. This reduces the risk of bacterial adhesion and contamination.

Don’t forget that we also offer a table as part of Teknomek’s Hygienox range. Manufactured from 316L-grade stainless steel, with the option of electropolishing, the design features open table top corners and in-set, tubular legs and tie bars for quick and efficient cleaning.

Stability & durability

In demanding environments with heavy equipment, labour intensive tasks and high foot traffic, durable furniture and equipment is paramount. The hardwearing longevity of stainless steel makes it the only suitable option for environments such as these, with our standard tables able to support a payload of 100kg. This goes up to a payload of 250kg for our Heavy-Duty range which include tables with polytops, ergonomic height adjustable tables, perforated and modular workstations. It should be noted that the payload is reduced to 225kg if the table is on castors.

Ergonomics & adaptability

Reduce the physical strain during the work day by utilising the adjustable height of our ergonomic tables. This allows staff to adjust the height to what is comfortable for the individual with a choice of manual or electronic operation. By opting for ergonomic tables in cleanrooms, labs and production areas, businesses can reduce the chance of staff suffering from repetitive strain or injury which could cost the company both time and money.
