Providing an all-in-one staff sanitisation process, hygiene stations are a great way to reduce human error during the changing room process while enhancing operational efficiency. We offer several variations to cater for different hygienic requirements using built-in features that combine both sole and hand sanitisation before staff progress to hygiene-conscious areas. With up to 15 operatives able to pass through per minute (depending on the product chosen), Teknomek hygiene stations can also speed up the process, leaving more time in production. We break down the key factors to consider when making a purchase from our hygiene station range:
Key features:
While all of our hygiene stations feature a method of sole and hand sanitisation, the method in which they do this varies on the model chosen. Here is a list of key features to look out for:
Sole washer or disinfecting platform
One key variation is whether your hygiene station has a sole washer or a disinfecting platform. If you work in an environment where heavy soil is common, such as the handling of raw food ingredients, then a sole washer is best as it physically removes dirt and debris from the sole of the shoe using removable brushes. These brushes should be cleaned regularly with a spare set on standby so that the machine is never out of action.
In comparison, the disinfecting platform focuses on sanitising the shoe, killing bacteria, viruses, and other microorganisms on the sole, rather than removing physical dirt. It consists of a shallow tray filled with cleaning solution before staff pass over a drip tray to remove the excess – prioritising microbial safety every step of the way.
TFT panel
Several of our hygiene stations feature TFT touch panels. These allow hygiene managers to easily adjust the amount of liquid dispensed and the cleaning duration. This helps ensure that each staff member is sanitised equally as they progress through the station.
Turnstile & indicator lights
Protecting hygienic areas, each hygiene station is equipped with a turnstile that only allows staff to pass through once every stage of the process has been taken. It’s worth noting that the turnstiles can turn left, right, one or two directional depending on your needs. An anti-panic button is also available on some models to enable workers to stop the sole washer brushes and unlock the turnstile for a quick exit in an emergency.
A red/green light on top of the panel indicates to the person when they have carried out the correct cleaning process and can pass through the turnstile. Another indicator light, available on selected models, flashes to indicate when cleaning solution is low.
Hand washing process
The hand washing process can vary depending on the hygiene station chosen – ranging from just a sanitiser dispensing system to a full hand washing process. Workers put both hands (palm up) into the disinfection chambers where motion-activated sensors trigger a spray of sanitising solution. If our most comprehensive model is selected (HWHS-SWDEL1D71) then the hands will be washed using a soap dispenser first, then dried using the built-in hand dryer before the sanitising solution is dispersed for optimum hygiene.
Key considerations:
The biggest factor to consider when choosing the best hygiene stations for your work environment is the size of your workforce and how stringent the hygiene standards need to be. While the most comprehensive hygiene station allows just 2-4 operatives to pass through per minute, the stations with a shorter process can allow up to 15! It is the perfect opportunity to either speed up staff changing room flows or, alternatively, a method of removing room for human error with a mandated process that staff cannot skip or rush through.
Another aspect to consider is location. These hygiene stations require both an electrical supply and the means to be plumbed in. The requirements vary depending on the product, we recommend checking the product pages or spec sheets on the collection page.
